When do JLPT results come out?

Last checked: 2026-11-06

JLPT results come out online about two months after the test, and paper results follow weeks later. For a July test, expect online results from late August to early September. For a December test, expect late January to early February.

The sources conflict. For July 2026 in Japan, the JEES guide says papers go out in late September, and the JLPT FAQ says early September. The test guide is specific to that test, so we would trust it first. The overseas pages also give different paper dates. Your host institution sets the real date.

What to expect for the December 2026 test

The test is on December 6, 2026. We have not seen an official result date for it. Based on the pages above, our own estimate is online results in late January to early February 2027, and paper results in February to April 2027, depending on your country.

How to check your result

If your result is late or wrong

Plan around the wait

If you need a result for an application, count back from the deadline. From a December test, online results may not appear until February, and paper may take until March or later. If you cannot wait, the JFT-Basic gives a result on the day. It is a different test, so see JLPT vs JFT-Basic vs NAT.
